Shamanism

Operative religion, which is theurgy or working with divine powers. Note that in ordinary usage the word religion denotes merely a set of institutionally imposed conditioned beliefs and social behavior, having little or nothing to do with either higher awareness of inner experience. It is quite other with shamanism, the point of which is not any search for merely ecstasy. Indeed the point of shamanism goes even beyond healing to the greater goal of developing communion with a community of higher than human beings. That entails also a modus operandi for not only attaining such a deeply therapeutic contact, but an eventual transmutation of the shaman/ess into an individual of yet more exalted awareness and capability.
